I've been in a relationship for so long that I don't think I can even clearly recall my first date. I can't even imagine how awkward I would be if I had to go on one, like, tomorrow. Maybe a bag like this would be a great ice breaker?

They say that the early stage of a blossoming relationship is usually the best, and I guess after being through that, after so long, I can see why. Not to say that long-term relationships grow boring, but there is just something quite addicting about someone when you first start to fall for them. They begin to take up ALL of your thoughts and without realizing how gross you act around them, you just can't seem to act "normal" at all. It was also around this stage that I began wearing dresses more often than the time my mother would simultaneously change me in and out of 10 daily when I was 5 years old.

With that being said, I might not clearly remember all of the details of my first date, but I do remember exactly how I felt when my (now) boyfriend leaned in for a kiss at my doorsteps and I went for a hug instead that night. I definitely would do the same now if I had to go back and do it all over again, and yes, I'll keep my sneakers with my dresses too.

The fleeting feeling of being in love is one that I am lucky enough to constantly associate with on this topic -- but everyone experiences love differently. This handbag that I'm wearing is from ParisaNYC's Handbag Collection titled "The Love Affair." Contrary to its' unique design and fun versatility - this bag is part of a series of 5 bags that each represents a different stage of love and was actually inspired by a heartbroken relationship. More than just a line of bags, "each handcrafted handbag is meant to serve as a symbol of independence found through a sense of belonging and empowerment." It is a community that I'm excited to be a part of, either being in love or out of love because self-love is always first and foremost.

The ParisaNYC Handbag Collection is launching on Kickstarter today and I invite you to celebrate love, independence, and growth through your stories with me. If you have a moment, I would appreciate it if you could check out Parisa's story with me!

Zimmermann Eyelet

Spring is like that weird puberty stage everyone had to go through yet not realizing as we pass through it. Not to mention it is also my least favorite season after summer and winter. Aside from those rare days when it's perfect leather jacket or sweater weather Spring's just okay. I guess Spring doesn't indicate as much wardrobe changes for me than it does for others-- so don't count on seeing any floral patterns/prints on me anytime soon.

By now you should know the drill-- I wear my whites all year round and I'm pretty good at finding new ways to wear old things, hence this casual outfit. I love investing in pieces that come back season after season. It makes me happy knowing the holes left in my pockets for these purchases aren't filled up with post purchase regrets or afterthoughts.

Around this time last year, I was prancing around Capri in this top, and wearing it now brings back such good memories and it just makes this top even more special for me. Zimmermann has been top of my list for delicate laces and silhouettes (like this and this). I can't even begin to express my love for some of their dresses, but for now, this top will suffice.

Navy With Care

April 22, 2016

To care is a form of effort that to me, means more than any grandeur gestures or kind deeds. Quite frankly, before 'I love you's, I'd much prefer 'I care about you's.

But lately, I feel myself slowly not caring --anymore, as much, or enough, for some reasons. I don't remember when this started, nor can I recall why -- but I guess that's the thing, do you ever really know the reasons why you care deeply about something? It's overwhelming when there are so many things to care about, but, I feel empty when there isn't much to hold onto to get up in the morning.

I feel spoiled, in a way, when I ramble about this topic. My mom would probably not have it, as she would tell me to stop being ungrateful and just focus on my work and goals. It must be a generational thing as I grow more and more impatient with my own expectations of myself, realities, and the struggles to communicate my experiences to people of my age or older.

I feel a lack of loyalty among the people that I'm friends with, work for, and even myself as I'm constantly changing as a person too. At the end of the day, I probably just care too much with an I don't give a f**k attitude, if that makes any sense.

When it comes to fashion, there are just way too many people who claim that they are "passionate" about the industry yet they're so misinformed. I guess people get confused between their love for having nice things versus their love for fashion. It really frustrates me when someone dictates whether something is nice based on what brand it's from or justify dressing "low and high" by decking themselves out in fast fashion clothing and a high-end bag. Whatever happened to taking the time to learn about why a trend emerges and what designers are responsible for these creative innovations. Everyone invests in a bag, but no one seems to want to invests in a great blouse, a great pair of jeans or a great coat to wear year after year anymore. People just want new things to wear, to stay on trend, but does anyone even care about fashion the way they can shamelessly say they do nowadays?

I don't know, but lately, new clothes don't excite me much. I guess I still care about fashion, but I'm extremely bored of the community and how shallow everything feels. It's easy to put on something new for the first time and be eager about wearing it out, but I've been more enthusiastic about being able to come up with an outfit to wear with my core pieces and updating some of my classic go-tos. Here are a couple of new things (in a very long time) that I've incorporated into my limited rotating rack of clothes - a navy knit cardigan and a pair of mid rise blue jeans with the perfect slit details by AMO.

Chevron

It’s probably much easier to look forward to Spring with a clean slate of mind, but as a personal motto of mine, everything comes full circle. Beyond just wastefully going through a phase of wardrobe cleansing for the first week of a new season, I prefer to organize instead. There’s a great sorted-out feeling of just knowing where everything is and what purpose they serve.

Contrary to what most people might find themselves doing at the beginning of Spring - putting all of their coats away - I find myself first putting all of my chunky knits away instead. I’m a sucker for contrasting layers so it’s pretty common for you to see me in a tough outerwear jacket with a crop top.
