Don’t get used to this regular-posts-type thing that I’ve been able to maintain in the past month or so. It’s still only the very beginning of the year, and honestly, the most productive I’ll ever be. You’ll be back to one post per month by April- I promise.

Nothing much has been happening, and I’m kind of enjoying the peacefulness of it all, for once. Last year around this time, I was drowning in emails and desperately looking for all excuses to escape my digital cell of a life. A lot of people, especially those ‘hustling’ via social media tend to glorify the idea of being busy, and working hard- and if that’s the kind of shit that’ll motivate you, then you won’t find it by reading anything I have to say.

Don’t get me wrong, I used to be there too. At 22, I felt like I had my whole life planned out. I knew exactly where I wanted to be at 24, then 25, and 28- but guess what, I could care less about how old I am anymore and what I’ll be doing in 6 months, let alone next year. I’ve found comfort in the fact that you can plan your life out a certain way, but life just has its own plans for you too. The best form of medicine to keep you sane through it all is just to take it with a grain of salt.

January was quite the month to start off 2019. It felt like it was eight weeks long as opposed to four. And now that’ll make me feel like February is only here for a week or so.

One of my highlights in New York was linking up with these two creatives making a difference in sustainable fashion by launching a re/up-cycled denim brand straight out of college. Morgan and Greg were such a fresh of breath air to have a conversation with as it seems like they were truly invested in what they were doing and the differences that they were making despite how labor intensive it is in customizing pretty much each product that they produce. As a partnership with them, I picked out these vintage up-cycled denim pair that was color-blocked and linked together with belt loops that are often overlook when you think about recycling denim.

Shopbop Sale Picks

I've always been a big fan of Shopbop, especially during the sales periods. Spring is just around the corner and I've linked quite a few things that I'm currently keeping in my cart waiting for this. It was pretty mild this winter for me, so I haven't been able to play around with much layerings or anything like that. It certainly does make me gravitate towards more florals and color-block prints to add depth to my outfits.

Look out for pieces that are labeled *Key Styles* and you can get 15% off $200+, 20% off $500+, or 25% off $800+ orders that include both sales and full price items.

Lob haircut, Tokyo hairstylists, MINX Harajuku, New York personal style blogger - Press to Resume / 012019 - FOREVERVANNY.com
Up until last year, I was getting a haircut every 2 years or so, and they were really cheap ones for like 30$ in Chinatown in New York. Now that I've been fully committed to having a lob (long-bob) because it just makes my life so much easier to maintain (wash and dry every 2-3 days), I get a fresh trim every 6 months. I also think finding a great hair dresser is really important to ease into a haircut routine because I no longer feel that anxiety right before chopping off my hair. If you're in Tokyo, check out MINX in Omotesando/Harajuku area.

5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat

October 15, 2018

Fall Trends 2018, How To Wear Fall Trends, Top Fall Trends 2018, Mustard Yellow, Checks and Plaid, Cardigans, Two-tone Boots, Styling Blazer for Fall, Layering Fall 2018 Top Trends / 5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat / FOREVERVANNY.com

I'm one of those people who will probably want to own my favorite sweater in every color and wear everything I find the comfiest over and over again. By now, you'll probably realize that I'm shameless about outfit repeating and wearing things that are four seasons old. Habits asides, I'm a strong advocate for slow fashion, mainly because it's not just logical, but it also represents a little piece of me that grows deeply attached to certain things (aka clothes). I guess you can see it as the 'personal', in personal style.

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, fashion trends like the infamous history quote goes... doesn't repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme (I'm paraphrasing here). One year suede will be in, the next it'll be out. We used to diss grandma cardigans, but they're on every major retailer's top trend lists this year. And as for plaid, the last time I recall them being cool was 2015.

With all that said, it's my motto to always just wear what I really like, and invest in pieces that have some longevity. With everyone craving for those vintage vibes again, you'll never know what sort of fun you'll have by digging through last years' winter clothes that you sloppily put away. Below are 5 of my past fall outfits that I'd definitely repeat again and some trends from those look that I think are still relevant this season to give you some inspirations.

Burnt Yellow/Orange

Yellow Suede Moto Jacket, Mustard Yellow Moto Jacket, How To Style A Suede Jacket for Fall, Fall Trends 2018, How To Wear Fall Trends, Top Fall Trends 2018, Mustard Yellow, Checks and Plaid, Cardigans, Two-tone Boots, Styling Blazer for Fall, Layering Fall 2018 Top Trends / 5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat / FOREVERVANNY.com
From "Keep Out"

I've always been obsessed with earthy tones, not just during fall, but throughout the year. Lately, I've been more and more drawn to the brighter shades of those warmer tones. Think rusty oranges, bright browns, and even deep mustard yellows. And now it's obvious as to why I'd wear this outfit again in a heartbeat.

Cardigan Comeback

Chunky Knit Cardigans, How To Wear An Oversized Cardigan, Navy Cardigan Outfit Ideas, Fall Trends 2018, How To Wear Fall Trends, Top Fall Trends 2018, Mustard Yellow, Checks and Plaid, Cardigans, Two-tone Boots, Styling Blazer for Fall, Layering Fall 2018 Top Trends / 5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat / FOREVERVANNY.com
From "Another Navy"

For the longest time, cardigans have gotten that reputation of being a grandma piece, but I actually love oversized and chunky ones. Something like this one becomes a dress (wear a slip under it though) or can be a great substitute for a trench/jacket.

Major Blazer

Blazer and Midi Skirt, How To Style A Boyfriend Blazer, Fall Trends 2018, How To Wear Fall Trends, Top Fall Trends 2018, Mustard Yellow, Checks and Plaid, Cardigans, Two-tone Boots, Styling Blazer for Fall, Layering Fall 2018 Top Trends / 5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat / FOREVERVANNY.com
From "A Radiant Day In Tokyo with Clé De Peau Beauté"

I've only started wearing blazers recently, but I'm obsessed at how they look when not so dressed up. Mixing one with ripped jeans is quite rebel-ish and makes me want to have an office job just to walk in like that one day. Despite their structural feats, they are quite versatile and can be paired effortlessly with skirts of all kinds. Invest in a good blazer and you'll probably have a bunch of outfit options for the fall.

Two-tone

Two-tone boots, Black and white color block boots, ATP leather boots, Fall Trends 2018, How To Wear Fall Trends, Top Fall Trends 2018, Mustard Yellow, Checks and Plaid, Cardigans, Two-tone Boots, Styling Blazer for Fall, Layering Fall 2018 Top Trends / 5 Fall Outfits I'd Repeat / FOREVERVANNY.com
From "In The Process of Processing"

As someone who loves neutrals and simple colors, two-tones add an extra oomph to some classic pieces. From two-tone boots to sweaters, blazers, and even pants-- these are the special pieces that you'll be able to rotate seasons after seasons.

From "092018 / Like A Typhoon"

Checks/plaids are all the rage right now. Careful though since if you're looking for just a flannel, I suggest you go your local thrift and pick one out instead of paying the same for an unethical purchase through Forever21 or something. BUT, if you're looking to invest in a good check/plaid blazer or even trousers - then I've got you covered.

A lot has been happening this month, mostly due to the fact that I've been constantly out and about. It's fun, but exhausting mentally, for me. And that always call for some personal space and time. I've been taking up self-portraiting again now that I'm finally easing into my own neighborhood here in Tokyo. I took these photos right before sundown. Running back and forth between 3-second-per-frame shutters while racing for every last bit of light. The third and fourth photo was definitely taken when a cute Japanese grandma stopped 2 feet away from me waiting for the last shutter of the self-timer to finish going off.

Since I'm getting back into fashion here and there (not that this super casual outfit speaks for it), I wanted to round up a few things I've been eyeing.

It doesn't hurt that there's a ton of sales going on as well.

Self-Portraits

By Retailers
Among my favorite sites to shop at is Shopbop, Matchesfashion, and Net-A-Porter. I love that they offer worldwide shipping and free at certain caps as well. Shopbop at the moment has an amazing sales of up to 25% off with code [ MORE18 ] on full-price and sale items. Below are things that are in my cart as well as things that are currently in my rotating fall/winter wardrobe that might be available for less, especially sweaters.

By Price

Sale season is my favorite to shop for basics as well as more accent pieces that I wouldn't gravitate towards (especially when they are still full priced). For the winter, I'll definitely be stocking up on bodysuits and more fitted knit pieces. Some of these basics while on sale can be as low as $50 dollar. And that's pretty much a steal for something such as a pair of denim that you can wear whenever.

With the holiday season in mind, I'll also probably pick up a satin dress or two that's appropriate for layering for holiday/end of year parties and gatherings.

Under 250

By Type

If breaking it down like the above isn't helpful for you- hopefully, this is. My essentials for winter and probably even into early Spring will always be a great coat, a versatile pair of shoes, maybe a bag, and foundational pieces for layering.

However, if you were to ask me the one thing I'd get among this list. It'd be the Isabel Marant color-block bomber, just saying.
